The 24th Infantry Regiment, a Buffalo Soldier unit, was activated in 1869 and has a rich history rooted in the post-Civil War era. Initially formed by consolidating the 38th and 41st Infantry Regiments, it was one of the African American regiments established after the Civil War. The 24th served primarily in the Western United States, undertaking tasks like garrison duty, fighting Native Americans, and protecting infrastructure. Later, the regiment participated in the Spanish-American War and World War II, among other conflicts.
