The 24th Infantry Regiment, a unit of Buffalo Soldiers, had a significant history, including service in Fort Stockton, TX. It was formed in 1869 from the consolidation of the 38th and 41st Infantry regiments, both initially comprised of African American soldiers. The regiment served throughout the Western United States, primarily at frontier posts, and was involved in various conflicts, including engagements with Native Americans.
