The 24th Infantry Regiment was one of the original Buffalo Soldier regiments, formed in 1869 from consolidated infantry units. It served throughout the American West, the Spanish-American War, Alaska, World War II, and the Korean War, enduring significant racial discrimination while achieving military successes. The regiment was eventually disbanded in 1951, as the military integrated and the age of segregated Buffalo Soldier regiments ended. The 24th Infantry Branch Insignia, a bugle with the number "24", symbolizes this storied history.
