The 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, also known as the "Devil Brigade," is one of the Army's oldest and most decorated divisional brigades, with a history that includes service in World War I and Vietnam. Organized in 1917, it saw extensive combat in WWI, was disbanded in 1939, and then reactivated to join the 1st Infantry Division in 1958. The brigade deployed with the division to Vietnam in 1965, fought in the Desert Storm campaign in 1991, and continued to serve in peacekeeping operations in the Balkans in the late 1990s.
